AS I READ TODAY ABOUT THE 2 PRISON GUARDS BEING ARRESTED AT UNION C.I FOR BATTERY ON AN INMATE,FALSIFYING OFFICIAL RECORDS,AND CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT BATTERY ON AN INMATE MY THOUGHT WERE 2 MORE DOWN AND ABOUT A 1000 OR MORE TO GO!!!! I ALSO THOUGHT ABOUT HOW OUR GOVERNOR AND THE PERSONEL RUNNING THE FL. D.O.C SEEM TO BE ACTING LIKE THESE ABUSE CASES ARE NOT AS SERIOUS AS NEWSPAPERS MAKE THEM TO BE.THEY ARE DEADLY SERIOUS AND MORE NEEDS TO HAPPEN TO KEEP OUR INMATES SAFE! IT ALSO APPEARS POSSIBLE THAT THESE OFFICIALS ARE MAKING FEW ARREST TO SHOW FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS THAT THEY CAN HANDLE THE PATTERN OF ABUSE ON OUR FL. INMATES BY GUARDS AND/OR STAFF.IF THEY COULD HANDLE ALL OF THESE ABUSE CASES AND IF THEY COULD STOP THEM THEN WHY ARE WE STILL HEARING ABOUT INMATES BEING ABUSED! WE IN FLORIDA NEED SOMEONE WE CAN TRUST TO RUN THE DEPT.OF.CORR. THERE HAS BEEN TOO MUCH HURT FOR US TO TRUST THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN RUNNING THE FL.DEPT.OF CORR.WE NEED THE DEPT OF JUSTICE TO TAKE THE FL PRISON SYSTEM INTO THEIR HANDS. AS WE WAIT FOR ANOTHER INMATE TO BE BEAT UP OR SET UP OR RAPED OR EVEN KILLED WE’RE STILL WAITING ON THE ARREST OF THE PEOPLE WHO KILLED DARREN RAINEY AND FOR THE ARREST OF ALL OF THE INMATES THAT THE MIAMI HERALD HAS UNCOVERED AND THE MANY,MANY,MANY MORE THAT DIDN’T HAVE THEIR STORY TOLD BY MEDIA,BELOW IS THE ARTICLE ABOUT THE 2 GUARDS ARREST AT UNION.

RAIFORD, Fla. — A prison guard and a former prison guard at Union Correctional Facility were arrested Wednesday in connection to an attack on an inmate last month, the Florida Department of Corrections said.Officer Justin Clemons and former correctional officer Cody Gabbard face charges of falsifying official records, battery on an inmate and conspiracy to commit battery on an inmate, according to a statement released by the agency.

That’s after an internal investigation revealed the use of force on that inmate was not justified and that the pair filed misleading records to justify their actions, the statement said.
The department’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Baker County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gabbard in a raid of his home Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. Clemons, meanwhile, was arrested at the prison by the OIG and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

The department said an investigation into the use of force incident remains open and active, despite the arrests. Secretary Julie Jones issued the following statement on the arrests:
“The Department of Corrections is committed to taking firm and decisive action against those who engage in behaviors that threaten the safety of our inmates and the security of our institutions. I am confident in the abilities of the Office of Inspector General to aggressively identify and bring justice to those who discredit this Department through criminal and administrative misconduct.”
